This chapter describes the use of anticonvulsants in neuropathic pain. The form of neuropathic pain described here is called central post-stroke pain which can be particularly difficult to treat with a patient driven to distraction by the discomfort. The chapter concludes with a suggested prescribing regimen (Table 9.1) and treatment algorithm (Figure 9.1).
